Hi everyone !
The first time I played Samurai Spirits, it was on the arcade MVS version of Samurai Spirits 2 in 1994 ! I love the SNK Neo Geo characters !
Since this time I have always played to the new versions of the game. When I saw this new WHF kit of Haomaru I knew that I have to bought him ! Because it is far the best sculpt of this character, the same for the Nakoruru kit ! I made a drawing with almost the element before starting to built the stage.
The scene takes place in a 18th century traditional Japanese house, just few second after the start of a ninja ambush !!! Hattori Hanzo the legendary and his crew !
I had to make some throwing weapons to simulate the start of the fight. We can see Hanzo sneaking just behind the back door with an other ninja on the right, try to guess who she is !
I used aibrush and handbrush for the figures, I slightly sprayed some metallic paint on the hairs of the 2 characters. I made some "damage" effects on the Haomaru's kimono with a small brush and shadings on the skin and outfits.
The stage is made as much as possible with natural material to have a more realistic background, (wood, pasted-paper, stone, white sand, bamboo, etc... I made the cherry tree trunk with a little branch of a cherry tree in my garden !
I searched on the internet informations about traditional Japanese houses.
I made the screen with paper printed with a Haomaru an Nakoruru drawing scanned on the All about SNK illustration artbook. I created the design on Photoshop and Illustrator, the same with the background silhouettes. I sculpted the stone lantern with modeling material, air hardening. My electric system is "hidden" behind the wall !
This is my first diorama, so don't be too hard with me ! I tried to create a dramatic atmosphere with the lanterns and shadows in the background.
I had a lot of fun to built and work on it ! I hope that all the samurai Spirit fans and the others will enjoy it !
